Why not have more APIs that people can use - and more prizes for using other APIs? I notice that Uber, Twilio, etc were all sponsors last year
If it's IBM only - maybe try re-naming it to IBM TechWeek Hack? There are lots of IBM hackers who may want to join because of that (although IBM hackathons usually have larger prizes)
